Our CallingOur Founder Denise Miller felt God leading her to share Gods disarming love with the families of the incarcerated. The families of inmates are the hidden victims of crime as they suffer immense loss, grief, isolation and instability. Denise's passion to help families of prisoners grew even more when she discovered the wonderful work of Huntsville Hospitality House over the last 34 years. They are located in Huntsville, Texas and are one of the oldest hospitality houses in the United States to provide lodging for families coming to visit a loved one in prison. Below is a link to a video by the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program showing how the Hospitality House in Huntsville, Texas is crucial to families that find themselves inunimaginable circumstances. This video conveys an enlightening testimony on why helping families visit their loved ones is invaluable. |
Our GoalAt Disarming Love, our goal is to embrace the often forgotten "other victims of crime" being the incarcerated families. These families frequently become collateral damage of prison sentences. Having a loved one in prison causes unfathomable stress and heartbreak. Compounding the destruction, these families' loved ones are often placed in correctional facilities hundreds of miles away from their families. Visitation, an essential link between loved ones and those incarcerated, is then complicated by additional financial expenses such as gas, food and accommodations. Disarming Love embraces these families by helping with the costs that often prohibit invaluable visitation. We assist families with accomodations, food and gas costs while also offering loving emotional and spiritual support. |
